Abstract: |
Hyperthyroidism is a common high-metabolic disease in clinical practice. Western medicine treatment has a high recurrence rate and significant side effects, whereas Chinese Medicine offers better clinical efficacy in treating hyperthyroidism. This paper, based on ZHU Danxi's theory of "excess yang and insufficient yin", discusses the TCM etiology and pathogenesis of hyperthyroidism, as well as the treatment at various stages. The theory reveals the core pathogenesis of hyperthyroidism, suggesting that the pathological basis of hyperthyroidism is "insufficient yin", which manifests as "excess yang". In clinical practice, treatments should be tailored to the distinct pathological characteristics at the different stages of this disease: during the initial stage, where excess pathogens should be reduced, resolving stagnation and reducing fire should be emphasized; in the progressive stage, where a mixture of deficiency and excess is common, it is necessary to tonify deficiency and reduce excess simultaneously, consolidating the primordial yin and transforming phlegm and eliminating blood stasis; in the prolonged cases, the focus should be on balancing yin and yang. A verified medical record is provided as a reference for the pattern differentiation and treatment in clinical practice. |
